Hello, My name is Mandy C. I have been working with children of all ages and learning needs for the past 15 years. I am certified in elementary, special education, and middle school mathematics (grades 7-9). I specialize in working with elementary age students, as well as those who have learning disabilities, autism, ADHD or emotional needs. I am currently a remedial reading and mathematics teacher delivering intensive skills intervention to elementary students who are at least 2-3 grade levels behind in core subject areas. I was a substitute teacher for 6 years and have worked in many school districts in the Bucks County and Montgomery County, Pennsylvania area. I am familiar with the PA common core, curricula, and online resources that many public schools in Southeastern Pennsylvania are using. I can help bring what is being done in the classroom to your home, sharing with both you and your child ways to help them achieve success in the classroom. My approach to teaching is hands-on allowing your child to interact with what they are learning. I can offer either one time consultations or repeating sessions.
I engage in ongoing communication with parents. I respond quickly and offer support in between sessions. I bring new resources and ideas to tutoring sessions, that you as a parent can practice with your child on your own time. With your permission, I will communicate with your child's teacher to ensure continuity from school to home.
If you think that I am a good fit for your family, please e-mail me. We can discuss via e-mail or over the phone your child's needs before our first session. I am available Monday and Tuesday evenings, and weekends. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Hello, My name is Mandy C. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with children who have ADD/ADHD for the past 12 years. It's been mostly in inclusive settings where a child as a part of the Sunday School, Camp group or elementary class had the condition. I took the time to get to know the student and understand how they learn best. I designed instruction to promote active participation, allowing them to interact with what they are learning. Instruction was "chunked" into small time intervals, allowing them to take frequent breaks. I also designed/created enviornments that allowed them to take "brain breaks" so they could unwind and re-focus when they return to instruction.
I have 3 years of experience working with individuals who have Aspergers I was a special education teacher for students who had Aspergers. I provided them with academic and social skills support.
