Bio

I graduated with a B.S. in Actuarial Science from Robert Morris University with a 4.0 GPA. Complex math and finance concepts come easy to me, and I have always had a strong ability to explain concepts to others in a way they can understand. I've volunteered as a tutor since high school, where I first successfully helped struggling students prepare for state mandated algebra exams. In college, I frequently would help classmates to understand material, and I volunteered at RMU's tutoring center. I always found satisfaction in helping my peers to understand topics that they thought they couldn't.

I graduated from RMU in May 2019, and I currently work as an Actuary. My job often requires me to explain complex actuarial concepts to audiences that are not familiar with the work I do. This makes me all the better a fit to be a tutor today. And as a bonus, I will always have an answer for a younger student that asks, "Why do I need to know this?".

I also have many years of experience coaching and refereeing youth soccer. I've greatly enjoyed those experiences where I've been able to help young people learn a skill they can enjoy for much of their life. There is nothing more rewarding than helping others succeed from your knowledge.

I am a great math tutor because I've always striven to fully understand the concepts that I study, and this gives me the basis I need to help others do the same. I've seen many students who try to memorize rules, formulas, or processes for doing a particular kind of problem. I've always vowed to never take that approach with students or in my own studies. It is so important to understand underlying concepts in mathematics, or you will never be able to gain any use from your studies. With that said, I will approach complex topics from different angles, using visual aids, mathematical proofs, metaphors, example problems, until a student fully understands, and I will work with them until they see problems and know exactly how to do them.

I have a demonstrated history of being an outstanding mathematics student, and I have proved on many occasions to be able to effectively help others understand complex ideas. Please reach out to me so I can help you or your student succeed today.

Excellent statistics tutor

Michael helped with my Excel and statistic studies. He was more knowledgeable than my professor. I understand the content much better after studying with him for an hour.

Exceptionally Knowledgeable!

Michael is incredibly knowledgeable and is a great tutor to work with! We went over TVPI, DPI, RVPI ratios, IRR calculations, and TWR. Prior to my lesson I had a very minimal understanding of these concepts, after our session I now feel more comfortable. Michael prepared a very thorough dynamic spreadsheet to help illustrate the concepts. Any student who works with Michael is sure to better understand all concepts discussed and in for an exceptional experience!
