Hello! My friends call me Sri. I am a rising M1 at EVMS in Norfolk, VA. I got here through the help of many teachers, friends, tutors, and TAs. I want to give back by helping students achieve their goals, whatever they maybe. I have experience working in research lab and hold a Master's degree in both Immunology and Biomedical Sciences. I have experience tutoring students for classes such as Biology, Chemistry, and also helping them prepare for the MCAT. I love helping my students learn and watching them break through their personal milestones is very gratifying. Rest assured, I will do my very best to help you, and if I cannot then I will point you in the right direction.

Outside of school, I am an avid fan of sports, mainly cricket and soccer. I follow the Premier League in England and my team is Chelsea. Having done my undergrad in Pittsburgh, I am naturally a Penguins and Steelers fan. My favorite TV shows are Hannibal, Breaking Bad, and Friends. For music, Eminem is my go-to artist. I would love to get to know you better to improve our tutoring experience.

Science didn't always come easy for me. I had to spend extra time understanding the material to do well in school. However, I liked the challenge and fell in love with what I was learning. Once I decided to be a physician, I majored in Microbiology and then went on to earn Master's degrees in Immunology at University of Cincinnati and Biomedical Sciences at EVMS. I was driven by the desire to gain a better understanding of the human body. I have also performed research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) to decipher the involvement of immune cells in the development of food allergies. As a student at EVMS, I took classes alongside of medical students and excelled in them. These classes involved Anatomy, Foundational Sciences (Biochemistry), and General Mechanisms of Diseases among others. I have developed a firm grasp of these topics and feel more than capable of tutoring students on them.

I have taken the MCAT twice. I performed better the second time and found that it helped to have someone to talk ideas through. This could be a friend, a tutor, or family members. As someone who has experience taking the MCAT, I can not only talk things through, I can also help you better prepare for the exam. I am a current medical student so I understand the pressure that comes with the MCAT and what you need to do to succeed.

Please contact me if you have questions, I don't bite. Tutoring works best when we get to know each other better. There is no need to be formal. It would be my pleasure to help you out.

Biochemistry

I have plenty of biochemistry background that I can draw from to help you. Below is a short summary of my schooling thus far. Education: - Bachelor's in Microbiology from University of Pittsburgh - Master's in Immunology from University of Cincinnati - Master's in Biomedical Sciences from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) - 2 years of lab research experience at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) - Matriculated into the MD class of 2023 at EVMS Biochemistry can be a challenging subject to grasp since it brings together many different topics. I have experience tutoring fellow classmates succeed in biochemistry and related subjects and would love the opportunity to work with you!

Test Preparation

MCAT,

MCAT

I have taken MCAT twice and successfully matriculated into medical school at EVMS. I have extensive schooling in sciences (degrees in Microbiology, Immunology, and Biomedical Sciences) that I will draw from to help my students. I also have experience helping my friends and fellow classmates prepare for and successfully take the MCAT. I know the amount of work that goes into prepping and the pressure that comes along with this exam. As someone who has gone through it, I am well suited to guide future test takers through this arduous journey.

Empathetic tutor with great skills on how to approach the MCAT, study sources, and conceptual knowledge!

Sri is an amazing tutor. He is very straightforward, honest, and supportive. I scored 496 the first time I took the MCAT and I had six weeks until my second test. He made himself available to me when it was convenient to me, for as long as I needed. One time he stopped in the middle of his day while he was out running errands, went to a coffee shop, and had a study session with me. He gave me advice on how I should structure my timeline, including practice test dates, material to study with, and realistic expectations. I could call or text him with questions and concerns, and he would help me through a problem, concept, or an emotionally charged freakout. He understands what premed students are going through, and his attitude is very empathetic. He isn't out to get your money, because if you communicate with him, he will tell you to take breaks, even if you have a scheduled session with him or are in mid-session and can't focus. Besides his supportive nature, Sri is an excellent tutor! He can explain anything in a clear and simple way. I think his main strengths are chemistry, physics, biochemistry, and biology. He will show you how to look at a passage, deconstruct what is important, what is distracting, the vocabulary, why an answer is right, tempting, and wrong. He will also show you how to tackle a question if you don't know the answer. Understanding how to take the MCAT is just as important as the conceptual material, and Sri definitely understands both sides. I highly recommend him for a tutor! Sri, thank you so much for all your help. It made a huge difference in my approach to tackling the MCAT mountain, and I couldn't have done it without you!
