About Alex

Bio

I struggled with math in high school and when I started college. It took me a long time to find my footing before eventually majoring in math and economics. Now, I'm studying for my master's degree in biostatistics. I know how hard it can be to struggle in something everyone tells you is so important, and I know how difficult it can be to enjoy something that doesn't come naturally. I'm offering my services because I can help with exactly those situations.

I know how hard it can be to struggle in something everyone tells you is so important, and I know how difficult it can be to enjoy something that doesn't come naturally. I'm offering my services because I can help with exactly those situations.

I've worked with students who love math and who think they can't ever understand numbers. I've seen people all over the board. I helped all of them; I can help you, too.

Don't worry if you don't have a passion for the subject—most people don't. But you can learn ways to make it an easier ride.

Statistics

Statistics

I know statistics is a different sort of math than most people are used to. Even if you’ve always been a numbers person, it can be tricky to develop an intuition for it. That’s what I’m here to help. I graduated with honors from a program in economics and mathematics, which included both applied and theoretical statistics coursework. Beyond that initial degree, I’ve completed a year of graduate study in mathematics taking courses in mathematical statistics and stochastic processes. I’ve tutored in a variety of settings over the years. My experiences range from leading a classroom to working one-on-one with advanced students. Whatever attention you need to make sure you’ll succeed in whatever classes you need help with, I’ll be there for you.

As an undergrad, one of my majors was math, so I have a solid baseline in the subject as a whole. In addition, I have experience mentoring students in an AP Calculus prep program - which is heavily based in Algebra 2, as well as trig - and I have privately tutored one-on-one for Alg 2/Trig
