I knew from a young age that I would be a teacher. My passion for movement, health, adventure and sports has taken me all over the United States, teaching and learning. My interest in tutoring others began when I was a student in high school. Some older friends on the swim team were dreading an upcoming Statistics test. They were experiencing a lack of interest in the material as they would soon be moving on. Because I felt confident in my knowledge of the material, I offered to help them. Not only did this strengthen our connections as friends, but also strengthened my understanding of the material. Since then, I have become a willing mentor and coach to children and adults who are hoping to become more aware of movement in three planes of space in a fun way. All school academic subjects can be improved with with awareness of balance. In addition to track, court sports and balance activity coaching, I am a 14-year snowboard coach and enthusiast. I love tutoring because of the the potential to help students own material and build confidence so that they can develop the ability to find direction.
In addition to professional teaching certificates in Health Education and Physical Education, I have played numerous high school, college and adult-league land and water sports. I am able to correctly model techniques and provide specific movement analysis feedback to improve technique. Currently I am in training with the Spacial Dynamics institute.

Though I believe in "results", I also believe that the process is the purpose and always encourage students to have patience when awaiting progress when in comes to physical skills. Unlearning unhealthy routines takes great bravery and commitment. Though I am a friendly person with a great sense of humor, during our time together my attention will be focused on meeting the needs of the student and communicating openly with parents. I take goals, and limits, of the family very seriously. I knew from a young age that I would be a teacher. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
