I am living in Tracy but I frequency commute to the Bay Area. I am fluent in American Sign Language and knowledgeable in Deaf Studies in the area of various of topics. I'm easy going, laid-back, and love to teach! I also currently looking for faculty teaching position in the Bay Area as well.
The best way to learn American Sign Language is to immersed in the social events with Deaf person\people in a 3D context. Yes, learning ASL from the books, websites, and other means is also great way to learn, however it is 2D and does not provide proximity contexts of the signs itself (hand-shape, palm orientation, movement, and so on). While American Sign Language is a beautiful language to learn but it is more than just a language. It is rich with history, culture, and complex grammatical structures. I not only teach ASL itself, but I also will teach Deaf Culture with it. Hello!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have BA in Communication Studies from Gallaudet University and BA in Deaf Studies from California State University of Northridge, and last finally got my MA in Deaf Studies from Gallaudet University. I am fluent in ASL because it is my first language. I grew up going to California School for the Deaf, Fremont, CA. I have worked in the tutor center in Gallaudet University tutoring in ASL; fingerspelling, public speaking, grammar and structure, and other related fields for 3 years.
