I have lots of experience teaching Spanish and French. In June 2015, I retired from from Allderdice, Pittsburgh Public Schools best high school, after a service of almost 35 years. During those years, I taught French to students in 9-12 grades in all gifted and scholar classes. French courses started from level 1 and went up to six, and I taught all those levels. The Spanish courses were structured similarly, but I taught only up to level four. All these levels went from basic introduction of the language up to SAT Prep and most students I taught in levels 3 and above were able to earn varying credits for college level French and Spanish. So teaching was obviously successful. Each year I was rated Successful, but my last year I was rated Distinguished.
I tutored in various situations while a full time teacher. I actually ran after-school tutoring programs [for a few years] involving languages, sciences and math. During the sessions I personally tutored students in French, Spanish and English while directing the program. I also tutored students from colleges [Pitt] and other high schools [Shady Side Academy] in French and Spanish
I have a Master's degree in English language, and I taught English to Freshmen and Sophomores at the university level. I understand that tutoring ESL is different from teaching regular English classes. However, that background adds to my cultural closeness to internal students whom I may tutor. In fact, I believe that , being an international student once, I will have a cultural closeness to those I tutor--and that will be a plus
Certified to teach French, Spanish and English, I spent all my professional life teaching French and Spanish at the high school. In addition, I took students to France and Spain repeatedly over a period of 20 years in my career. On site after-school as well as off site evening tutoring are all indications of love of my job as teacher and tutor in these languages.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
