Hello! I have just moved back to the US after living and working in the UK for six years. My degrees are in History and my main job is working in a museum's education department, teaching students about the collections and helping teachers learn how to use museums better in their classrooms. I am passionate about education and about helping students discover more and be the best students they can be. I take pride in my work and love seeing students' grades increase as a result of my help.
Studying history means writing a lot of essays, and I have great writing and editing skills. I can help with writing, grammar, literature analysis and essays, and test prep in those subjects. I can also tutor in all history subjects and general social studies such as government classes. I am also a confident public speaker and participated then coached my high school Speech and Debate team for years, and would love to help students with public speaking and confidence building.
I honed my writing skills in high school AP English classes, and then used them to achieve two degrees in History. I can help students to break down sentences so they can be made more complex and interesting, can help understand the ACT questions better, and can help with all elements of essay writing, grammar, and literature analysis. I am an enthusiastic, engaging tutor with lots of tips and tricks to share.
If you need help with the subjects I offer and live in the Pittsburgh area or don't mind getting help through online tutoring, I encourage you to get in touch and we can work together to improve your skills. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
