I have been tutoring various subjects for over 10 years, and have tutored for all finance classes at the university level for over 7 years. Course material has included basic time value of money concepts through advanced portfolio theory and investment strategies.

My experience in front of the classroom goes back to high school, when I volunteered for Junior Achievement to teach business concepts to grade school classes. University coursework in finance and international business allowed me to deepen my understanding of the financial enterprise. I earned the CFA and CIPM designations in 2020, and have applied what I've learned into practice as a portfolio manager of various fixed income strategies. I currently work as the CFO of a small business.

I am an Excel "power user" after a course in business applications for Excel and Wall Street Prep financial modeling. Excel functions are a second language to me, and using spreadsheets to develop models and help with decision-making has become second nature.

I was the finance tutor at a local university for several years at the recommendation of the chair of the department. Faculty in other disciplines also recommended me to their students because of my ability to synthesize course material in different ways.

Some logistics:
--I love talking about finance, but also tutor in many other subjects, including economics, statistics, various levels of math, French, and others.
--Sometimes, people learn better in groups. I have done many group sessions, and offer them at $50 per person per hour.
--Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy: If a lesson is rescheduled for the same day, there is no cancellation/rescheduling fee. The following is for cancelling or rescheduling the lesson for a different day. Cancelling/rescheduling earlier than 6 hours before the original lesson time, no charge. Cancelling/rescheduling between 3-6 hours before the original lesson time will be billed at half the hourly rate for the length of the original lesson. Cancelling/rescheduling 3 hour

I have passed all three levels of the CFA program, which includes intensive econometric sessions in Level II. Ph.D. work in econometrics and statistical theory are the pinnacle of my econometric work. Work in these courses complemented various professional and academic projects utilizing advanced mathematical processes to solve optimization problems, regression models, and decision algorithms.

I studied finance as an undergrad and achieved top marks in every class. As a student at Duquesne, I took all but 2 of the finance classes offered, and acted as the tutor for undergrad and graduate finance classes from January 2013 through May 2014. I was again the tutor for all finance classes as a graduate assistant, and began a Ph.D. in finance in 2016. Work as an investment analyst at Carnegie Mellon University gave me the opportunity to exercise my competencies in investment finance. I have worked as a portfolio manager for fixed income portfolios across over 25 different strategies, and currently work as the CFO of a small business. In 2020, I earned the CFA and CIPM designations.

very patient and thorough

Great tutor, patiently went though the material and asked any questions needed. We covered a DCF model and a IFS statement.

Jordan is a great tutor!

Jordan is a great tutor! He is very knowledgeable about the financial field, and is able to break down complex concepts so it's easier to understand. He also helped me a lot in getting the "big pictures" of financial concepts and equations in real-life events. Highly recommend!

Patient, slow and thorough.

I strongly recommend Jordan. He has increased my confidence in my finance class, having thoroughly explained fundamental concepts on time value of money. His style is the right match for me, he explains things in a clear and concise manner while using real-world examples that get me to see the big picture.

Knowledgeable on finance, and great at explaining the root of the topic

I've had a couple sessions with Jordan where we covered net present value, and most recently concepts of valuation of companies (economic profit, WACC vs IRR). He's been extremely patient with a newbie in this territory. Also, he is able to take a step back and describe the basic principles and concepts to help me understand the whys in addition to the whats. Thanks again, Jordan!

knowledgeable, and understanding

Jordan goes over the basics, starts slowly, and makes sure you understand. I reviewed high-level finance concepts with him, and he helped me understand. He has a good sense of humor. Also the website has some cool tricks for sharing screens.
