I have been teaching in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh for over ten years. I work in one of the top three districts in the state of Pennsylvania. I have my level two certifications in Early Childhood Education (K-3), as well as Reading Specialist (K-12). My specialties include: reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling, grammar, and writing, but are not limited to those concentrations. I also have taught all of the subject matter for grades K-3, as well as PSSA and Keystone Exam tutoring.
My approach to teaching is compassionate, friendly, fun, and student-driven. I firmly believe that everyone learns differently, and I will gear your learning styles to my teaching strategies. I have three children of my own, so I understand the importance of time management, organization, quality work, and time to just be a kid!
I am an outstanding English teacher because I am a Reading Specialist, and I work with students on a daily basis to build strategies in comprehension, grammar, reading fluency, writing, vocabulary, and literature.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in Elementary K-6 because I am certified K-3, plus I'm a Reading Specialist K-12. I teach a study skills class everyday, and I have tutored in all subject areas at the K-6 level.
I am a reading specialist. I am also certify early childhood K-3. I teach phonics on a daily basis in my remedial reading classes. Having a reading and early childhood background enables me to teach phonics with ease.
I have been teaching a class called Achieve at my district for three years. It's a class I introduced to the district for regular education students. It's a 43 minute class for students who need additional help with homework and study skills. I also teach organization and time management.
