About Shannon

Hello! I am a speech-language pathologist who currently works in a local school district. I hold a Bachelor's in communication sciences and disorders from Clarion University and a Master's in speech-language pathology from Duquesne University. I am currently certified to teach speech-language skills for grades K-12. This is my third year as a speech and language support teacher. I have been a speech therapist for over three years. I have previous experience tutoring high school students while I was a student in college. I have experience working with students in grades K-12 and mentoring college-age students.

As a speech therapist, I regularly work with students that require individualized instruction to meet their needs. Due to nature of my field, I have a wide range of skills that I teach students on a daily basis. I have experience working with students on basic phonics/reading skills (sound-letter correspondence, sound segmentation, rhyming, sound blending, etc.), vocabulary comprehension/expression, grammar comprehension/expression, listening skills, reading comprehension/strategies, and writing skills, to name a few. I have experience working with students with autism, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities.

I have always enjoyed teaching students and enjoy helping students master new skills and concepts. I am skilled in individualizing my teaching approach based on the student's learning style and skill level.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like to learn more about the tutoring services I can provide. I look forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Excellent Tutor — Shannon sure knows how to keep my child interested. She can be easily distracted or wouldn't want to work but Shannon keeps her focused. I always felt like listening in to the tutoring sessions with other tutors and in most cases I needed to interfere after we found Shannon I was very relaxed I'm not even home most the time and I can say I'm very comfortable with their sessions. I'd definitely rec ...
