About Bradley

Hired as a long-term substitute teacher at Faith Heritage School in Syracuse, NY, I taught 6 months of World History to 9th and 10th graders and loved it! While history was not my core subject in college, I did take some classes in my undergraduate studies. I would love to walk a student through the complexities of global studies if they need extra help. I found that students typically struggled putting the entire picture together. Many of them were able to dive into the unit that we studied but struggled particularly with seeing how that unit tied in with the others. For example, the Byzantine Empire was the Eastern Roman Empire after Diocletian split them.

Originally, I majored in Industrial Engineering and graduated from Lehigh University in 1998. I went through 3 levels of Calculus and Linear Algebra, but would need to freshen up on those skills. I would be willing to do so should somebody need help.

My career has expanded many industries, helping me to adjust quickly and learn on the go. My first 5 years after university involved computer programming and relational databases as I consulted with both large and small firms across the country. Later jobs gave me the experience needed if somebody needed assistance with Consumer Math, Economics, or Civics.

I found that some students just need a little one-on-one help to walk them through their studies at a slower pace or different approaches to learning. I know that I needed help with math during 1 year of high school, and a tutor got me back on track. It was just what I needed.

If you feel that I am a good fit for your student, or could assist you in any way, please let me know.

PS. In teaching the basics of World History, I come from a Christian worldview. However, I understand if you do not and can walk through the theories of evolution vs creationism as well.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I started playing baseball like many kids do at the age of 5 or 6 and fell in love with the game. I continued through high school and was recruited to play at the Naval Academy and the University of Rochester. Unfortunately, I did not continue playing in college, but I did continue to play as an adult until the age of 37. I have been coached by many great men including my father. But I also attended clinics with individual workouts from professional athletes such as Brian Doyle, former 2nd baseman of the NY Yankees and Oakland Athletics. I like to focus on the fundamentals of the game when I coach. My strengths are mostly middle infield and 3rd base.

Volleyball

I didn't start playing organized volleyball until the summer before my senior year in high school, but I caught on quickly and by the end of the season, I had made 2nd team All-County for Onondaga County. I continued to play for 2 more seasons on the club team at Lehigh University, but stopped after a major ankle injury. I got members from my fraternity involved in a community league and taught them how to play disciplined indoor volleyball with a 5-1 offense where I was the setter. I have also had the privilege to give some good advice to players of the girls volleyball team at Faith Heritage School while I have taught there.

World History

While there is always much to learn about the subject of World History, I was able to learn so much more through my time at Faith Heritage teaching this class. I came in as a long-term substitute teacher just before mid-year and taught 5+ months ranging from Ancient Greece to the Rise of National Monarchies for the freshman class. My sophomores studied the English Revolution through WWII. Not only did I spend time teaching the entire class, but I also had the opportunity to break things down for one-on-one lessons with various students.

Great volleyball lesson!

Bradley helped my daughter learn some basic volleyball techniques so she could go into her tryouts with at least a little experience. He was super personable and my daughter felt at ease with him. His instruction was clear and helpful.
