University of Pittsburgh (Education)
I'm Michael! I'm a college student attending the University of Pittsburgh as an education major with a love and passion for helping students learn and to help make school and learning fun!
I am 18 years old and have lots of experience tutoring high school level students in all levels of math, science, English, and even coaching and refereeing soccer, baseball, and basketball. I also have much experience working with students that do not fully understand the english language, as I have tutored students from around the globe in the past.
I am recently graduated so I possess a firm understanding of how the both today's education system and SAT work. I am always willing to help with SAT Prep in Math, Writing, and Reading. I excelled in high school graduating with a 4.0 GPA while taking rigorous advanced placement and honors courses and getting an impressive SAT score.
Also, as a native to the Pittsburgh area, I am fully aware of the area and understand the schooling systems and my communication skills with my students will be strong due to my age, interests, and respect for my future career.
I currently attend the University of Pittsburgh as an education major and am planning to become a math and science teacher.
I want to help kids succeed inside and outside of school and tutoring is the perfect way for me and the students to excel.
I have a firm understanding of all levels of math through my own high school and college education and further reading and research done on my own.
I have a great understanding of physics and want to share my knowledge through tutoring. I finished high school with an A in physics and am still studying physics classes at a college level. I have researched many physics topics myself and tutoring will hope us both succeed.
My strategy as a tutor will be to help the student understand his or her goals and provide them with a path to success. The path will be made and followed based on their own goals and availability, and I can guide them along the way with my insight to modern test taking, applying to college, and knowledge inside and out of the classroom. I always like to help the student understand why what they are learning in a particular subject area is important and how it relates to the real world. I will do practice problems with the student and slowly let them do the problems on their own and assign homework problems to give them a chance to come to the realization that they can succeed in the classroom on their own.
To accomplish this, I am willing to help for hours at a time and also meet many days of the week in many different locations (such as my residence, the students residence, or a calm neutral location) for a low price and am willing to help in between lessons for extra help if needed. You won't be disappointed with my service as we will have fun and learn a lot! I can't wait to get started! I'm Michael! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
