I have many years of experience teaching undergraduate chemistry courses at the United States Air Force Academy. This includes general chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, environmental chemistry and organic chemistry lab. I really pride myself on personal development of conceptual and visual learning for the topics I tutor, not just memorization, as these will help not only answering qualitative questions on quizzes or tests, but also aid in the easier understanding of further course topics. If needed, I have many years of experience advising and mentoring today's undergraduate students for academic and personal success.

If you're serious about getting that little extra help, spending a bit more time to push you over the edge of "barely getting it" to solidly understanding the material, I am really excited to help you succeed.

Math is the fundamental language of science and engineering. As a multi year instructor and practicing scientist/engineer, have had to speak this language over my entire career. Although not current about higher level math concepts, the fundamentals of algebra and trigonometry are quite ingrained. What would make me a strong tutor is my ability to apply the math concepts to specific science and engineering situations.

I think my multi-year teaching and tutoring experience in small, undergraduate classrooms has truly helped me understand the trials, tribulations and pitfalls of today's students struggling with chemical and chemical engineering concepts. I focus on my student's ability to visualize chemistry rather than just a bunch of letters and numbers. This helps with more widespread understanding and more long-term use in other science and engineering courses. The time you spend with me will be very effective and cost-efficient.

I have a passion for education and learning. I have a passion to help each of my students progress not only in chemistry but the ways of problem-solving and critical thinking. Please contact me and I will be excited to help you succeed.

Subjects

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

My education and experience as an engineer and 18-year chemistry professor requires knowledge of fundamental mathematics (Algebra, etc.). Mathematics is the foundation to all sciences and engineering. So, even though I do not have a math degree, I do know algebra and have often taught it when applied to chemistry principles and problem solving. Finally, I am certified by Wyzant to tutor Algebra. I hope to hear from you!
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Chemistry

Chemistry

My undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering involved two full years of general chemistry and organic chemistry courses (with associated laboratory curricula), physical chemistry for engineers, a materials course, and all associated courses/laboratories for my major. My graduate degrees, although more environmental sciences and environmental engineering oriented, included much coursework in chemistry, chemistry principles, and even a chemistry minor. Most importantly (and applicable) to my tutoring qualifications is the fact that I have taught 17 years' worth of undergraduate chemistry (various courses) at the US Air Force Academy with associated tutoring and mentoring of my students.
