I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Paraguay 2011-2013) with a minor degree in Spanish and years of experience working with children and teens.
In Paraguay, I taught dynamic and engaging English and Spanish lessons to children ages 4 to 16 on topics ranging from phonetics and reading comprehension to health and nutrition. Additionally, I presented workshops in Spanish to educators on classroom management and reading skills. At the end of service I scored an Advanced-High on the Peace Corps Language Proficiency Exam. During my junior spring semester at Penn State University, I studied abroad in Seville, Spain. There I lived with a host family and took a full semester of classes in Spanish.
My experience with kids comes from working at a summer camp for many years with boys and girls from 1st to 9th grade
I also have experience and training in adult literacy tutoring.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
