Carnegie Mellon University (Art)
I am a well educated artist with a BFA in painting and a minor in photography. I'm a working artist who has passion for creating beauty. My work has been shown locally and nationally. I practice my art on a regular basis and encourage others to do the same. I am very interested in striving for excellence when I'm working, which makes all the challenges so much more interesting. Additionally, I've had my own photography business for quite a long time and through serendipity ended up taking pictures of famous people, and doing photo journalist illustrations for some very poignant stories. Since all art has the same principles, the art and the photography have blended so well.
I love to teach. I have extensive experience teaching all grade levels from Kindergarten through college, as well as private tutoring. I taught at CCAC, Sweetwatear Art Center, AIP and LaRoche College, Pittsburgh, and St. Petersburg School Systems for several years. I've been a guest speaker on the subject of Color Theory 3 times. I've tutored three artists. I love to help students to carefully develop as artists. I highly recommend a steady flow of great books, regular museum visits, and practice looking at and seeing the world as artists. It is truly a joyful experience to teach art and I love it. I enjoy thinking about where my students are and making great work session plans. It's wonderfully engaging. I would love to hear from you about your goals and your desires in the arts. For our fifth lesson, we left the computer and spent two hours taking photos in a local industrial park. This was first lesson in which we actually took photos. It gave me a great opportunity to watch Cornelia as she approached a scene, thought about and then shot. It also gave hr a chance to watch me do the same thing. Great experience!

I love drawing and truly enjoy helping other people to engage their artistic gifts.
Painting is a sublime activity. I have studied painting at Cooper Union with some of the best artists New York City has to offer. I received a BFA at Carnegie Mellon University and studied with Elaine DeKooning. I have been in multiple local, regional and national shows. I am presently working on a series of paintings that involve research on the Dutch Masters paint techniques. It very fascinating. I have taught painting one on one which is what I prefer and have found it to be extremely rewarding. You must have some developmental drawing skills before you approach painting. But, once you start painting it's becomes a lifetime fascination.
I studied photography at Cooper Union and Carnegie Mellon University. I have had my own photography business since 1985. I worked for corporations, magazines, hospitals, private institutions and universities. I have tutored several people in photography and they have done very well for themselves. Photography is a very fascinating subject because it involved very strict technical disciple and very creative thinking. It is truly a fascinating subject and I love talking to other people who are interested in improving their skills about balance the technical aspects with their creative ability.
