I graduated in May 2017 from Columbia University in the City of New York with a major in biophysics. For the past eight years, I have worked with students from elementary school to college on physics, chemistry, mathematics and standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, SAT II and MCAT).

I enjoy working with students one on one, and aim to provide each student with problem solving strategies that are tailored to their individual learning style. I appreciate that the individualized attention allows for me to guide the student in a direction that can improve their understanding of the subject material. I allocate time for the student to ask questions and clarify ideas that will help their thinking process.

I have tutored in high school physics, SAT and ACT prep, geometry, algebra, pre-calculus, trigonometry and calculus.

While at Columbia I have taken the following courses, which I am also happy to teach: Physics-Mechanics & Physics-Electromagnetics (Introductory Physics I & II), General Chemistry I & II, Organic Chemistry I & II, Biology I & II, Calculus III-IV, and Ordinary Differential Equations. Throughout high school I took AP Physics with Calculus for Mechanics and Electromagnetics, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Statistics, AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition. I received a 5 on all of the AP exams for these subjects. I scored an 780 on SAT math, an 800 on the SAT II Test for Math II, an 800 on the SAT II Test for Chemistry, and a 750 on the SAT II Test for Physics. I scored a 35 Composite on the ACT with a Math score of 36, and Reading score of 36 and an English score of 35. I am available for MCAT tutoring for pre-med students with an emphasis on the Chemistry/Physics section (scored in the 97th percentile) and Bio/Biochem section (scored in the 99th percentile).

Elementary Math

I tutored students in elementary math over the past summer. I took the Math II SAT test, which tests basic math concepts up to trigonometry and pre-calculus, and scored an 800. I really enjoy working with young students in elementary math because the material provides an important baseline for future math concepts. My students and I usually aim to understand the subject matter first and then move on to problem-solving, but as always, the student's needs guide the tutoring session.

Knowledge

My tutoring class with Kayleigh was good. She is knowledgeable in the subject. Although, the techniques in which she used were different from what I am used to and not what I was looking for. Overall Kayleigh is a very qualified teacher and I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs help in physics.
