Morehouse College (Mathematics)
Emory University (Master's)
My love and appreciation of mathematics was cultivated from a very young age. Including the span of my elementary to high school years, my mother taught mathematics for more than 30 years. The pursuit of my strong passion for mathematics, therefore, felt natural at Morehouse College where I graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Mathematics and Economics. For students who don’t play math games and compete with siblings over who can compute the tax and tip the fastest at dinner, I am here to help with just about any math subject.
I offer tutoring for any high school math subjects up to and including AP Calculus AB and BC. I also help students improve their scores for the quantitative portions of the SAT and ACT. I did very well on the math portion of the SAT by scoring 720.
I am no stranger to tutoring undergraduates. From my sophomore year on, I was a greatly demanded tutor for Morehouse’s Mathematics Department. As a junior and senior, I was a professor’s assistant for Pre-Calculus and Real Analysis, successfully helping undergraduates achieve their math major requirements. While earning my master’s degree in mathematics at Emory University, I also taught Calculus I to undergraduates. My love and appreciation of mathematics was cultivated from a very young age. Kevin is tutoring my daughter for SAT math and eventually in Honors Calculus. She is very pleased with his teaching.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
