I am an experienced college English Composition and career development instructor. I have experience with non-traditional educational students. Most of my students have been individuals who struggled through High School and were pursuing a vocational certificate. My responsibility was to make things clear and comprehensible to students at any level. Typically, I work best in small groups or one on one, helping to tease out the needs of particular students.
My undergraduate degrees are from the University of South Florida, in English Literature and History. My graduate studies included a 150 page thesis on the film The Matrix. My academic papers have been presented to nationwide theological societies, and include a presentation at the University of Notre Dame. I have had poems published in various regional magazines.
My teaching strengths include: planing and organizing papers, flow of argument, reading for comprehension and analysis, and critical reasoning skills. As it concerns history and Social studies, my subject areas of strength include the Middle Ages, 20th century, and intellectual history. I prefer to concentrate on knowing people and understanding the context and conditions in which they lived, as opposed to memorizing dates and figures.
