My name is Shannon. I am a Master's-level, professional tutor of the hard and social sciences with 5 years of experience. My skills lie in the art of taking complex concepts and rearranging them into terms the student can understand. I specialize in refining skills in Reading, Writing, Concept-understanding and Test Preparation.
I have experience tutoring all grade-levels (Graduate, Undergraduate, High School, Elementary and younger) and with individuals possessing Ranging Learning Speeds & Styles [e.g. Pervasive Developmental Delay, High IQ]. I've spent much of my recent years working with ESL students (English as second language), where Reading and/or Writing may come as more of a challenge.
Most Importantly, I always strive for a holistic, patient and enthusiastic dynamic between myself and my client. I believe this style is key to effective learning.
I hope to have sparked your interest.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a professional tutor in the following fields:
All fields of psychology - behavioral, cognitive, social, developmental, forensic, statistical analysis.
- psychopharmacology, brain & behavior
- biology 1 & 2
- research methods
I have tutored one-on-one sessions as well as group review sessions for Sociology 101 and Social Psychology courses for over 4 years, graduate and undergraduate level. I observe Sociology as the study of how groups of individual psychologies interact so as to become a cohesive (or divided) whole. It explores how people associate with others and how groups of people associate with their environment. It reflects on how social relations effect a society's environment and how the environment effects social relations.
