Greetings! I am an educator with over 10 years of experience teaching high school Spanish. I possess native-like fluency and specialize in total immersion and advanced Spanish instruction, but I have also worked at the elementary and middle school levels. I have designed innovative and engaging curricula for K through 12 programs that have motivated even the most reluctant learners. I am also qualified to teach ESL and I have done extensive work in the area of bilingual education. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, encouraging learners to actively engage in their individual educational experience through guided instruction and immersion. I am passionate about language learning and linguistic diversity and believe that one of the best ways to help my students develop fluency is to transmit this passion to them so that they will become lifelong learners of a second language.

Christina is wonderful. My daughter needs help learning to speak, read and write English having grown up in El Salvador. On the first visit Christina informed that she is also fluent in Spanish which aids greatly. Christina was also able to immediately hone in on very specific words that are used every day and my daughter is improving rapidly. Christina is the consummate professional, enthusiastic and really, really nice.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach ESL because I am a native English speaker with extensive experience as a teacher of foreign languages. My Master's program has included in-depth work with bilingual education programs where I have been trained in understanding the differences and similarities in how humans acquire their native language and subsequent languages. I can identify with the challenges that L2 learners face when learning English and I feel confident that I can be an effective tutor in this area.
