About Scot

I am a trained musician, teacher, and writer. I have earned the Hal Simons Memorial Award for Excellence in Music. A Classical Performance Major at West Chester University from 1987 to 1991, I studied under Glenn Lyons while performing with the West Chester Classical Guitar Ensemble, and advanced my jazz and pop playing through studies under Chuck Anderson, with whom I studied for over 20 years. During this period, I began writing for both band and solo guitar.

In 1996, I opened the first of my two teaching studios which has developed into a successful teaching facility for people of all ages and musical interests. I have also created an educational product which includes a booklet and tape/cd used in aiding the student's improvisational development. My studio has won Best Instrumental Instruction Award from the Drexel Hill Business Association for the years 2014 and 2015. I have instructed Special Needs adults at the Elwyn Institute for over 10 years, in the form of sing-alongs, rhythm studies, and guitar study. As a group and private instructor for over 20 years, I am constantly enriched by the musical experiences I get to share with my students of all ages and levels. Seeing a student grow, come out of their shell and shine, creates momentum and motivation for myself and my student.

I have 20+ years of private and group music lessons in guitar, bass, voice, theory and songwriting, in an array of styles. I have gotten students ready for auditions ranging from school bands, college and professional wedding type bands.

I have 15+ years experience with children and adults with Downs, Aspergers, and ADD. Lessons cannot be held in a traditional nature, but the goal has always been to keep the student engaged through flexibility, positivity, and creativity.

My patience, know-how, and fun nature have allowed me to hold onto many students for over 10 years and counting. I tailor lessons to the individual, listen to your goals, and we discuss the steps that will get you there.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Guitar
