About William

Hello, students! My name is Will F., and I offer tutoring services specializing in ACT Prep, History/Geography, and English (both reading and writing). I offer extensive classroom experience, having taught high school geography and debate as a member of Teach for America in Nashville, TN from 2010 to 2012. I am currently certified in the state of Tennessee and awaiting certification in the state of Kentucky. I also have extensive experience in public speaking, having served as a college admissions counselor for the University of Kentucky from 2008-2010, and having coached the LEAD Academy HS Debate Team to the Nashville Urban Debate City Championship in 2012.

My tutoring style is very engaging and interactive; I believe that for a student to learn, the material has to matter to them. I believe that intelligence is learned and earned, and that anyone can be smart if they are willing to work hard. I am willing to work with groups and individual students depending on convenience and what works best for the students and their families.

Whatever your area of interest or performance level, I pledge that I will work alongside you and your family to help you achieve your academic goals - whether that be writing proficiency, greater understanding of history, or preparedness for the ACT. As a former admissions counselor specializing in college-level scholarships, I know exactly what it takes to reach college-level academic readiness - and I am excited about working with your student to help them achieve their full potential!

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
