In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
For more than 10 years I have studied various aspects of music. These subjects include Honors Music Theory in High School which continued into my time at the University of the Arts. I've learned to read music in my High School marching band as a trombone player and I can read music for Bass Guitar. I have taken songwriting classes at the University of the Arts and have written, recorded, self-released and performed my own original songs. I also have extensive knowledge in Music Production as reflected in my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Music Business Entrepreneurship & Technology from the University of the Arts.
I have been playing electric and acoustic guitar since 2006 at the age of 12. I have taken lessons with Kevin Antreassian who is the lead guitarist of The Dillinger Escape Plan and owner of Backroom Studios in Rockaway New Jersey. I have learned many techniques including hamer-on's and pull off's, finger tapping and blues scales for solos.
I have studied various aspects of Music Production during my time at the University of the Arts. I have taken several recording classes in the Merriam Studio going over many types of microphone techniques such as using a stereo blumlein pair, and recorderman setup for recording a live drumset. I have also taken advanced mixing & mastering classes that review corrective EQ and proper use of effects and processing. I am also familiar with using Digital Audio Workstations including Logic Pro X, Ableton Live 9 and Pro Tools
I have taken Honors music theory in High School. I have continued my theory knowledge at the University of the Arts through several music concepts classes. I can read music and explain music theory in terms simple enough for any non-music oriented person to understand.
I have been writing and composing my own original songs for more than a decade. I have expanded my knowledge by taking songwriting classes at the University of the Arts where I learned how to improve my lyricism, song structure, and rhyme scheme. I also took a modern pop production class and learned the formula behind the most successful songs in pop music.
I started learning and playing trombone music 7 years ago as a freshman in high school. I learned to read music in bass clef while simultaneously being a member of my high school's marching band. I continued to be a member of the marching band and other concert band ensembles for the remainder of my high school career.
