About Alex

Bio

My name is Alex, and I am a current Senior at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. I am on course to complete bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and am working on a master's degree in MSE concurrently. As a tutor, I enjoy building an understanding of a subject that is logically sound and encapsulates the outlook of the subject's philosophy as learning a subject to me means learning to see as its proponents see.

I have taken math courses in Geometry, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Linear Algebra, Single & Mulit-Variable Calculus, Partial Differential & Differential Equations, and Engineering Mathematics.

I have also taken various science courses related to chemistry and physics in topics such as chemical thermodynamics, organic chemistry, thermodynamics of phase transitions, quantum mechanics, soft matter physics, and nanoelectronics.

If you find I am able to help with a subject you are studying, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Japanese

Japanese

I have studied Japanese formally for 6 years and passed the high school AP Japanese Language & Culture exam with a 5. Since high school, I have continued my study of Japanese in my free time.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have previously taken math up through multi-variable calculus, partial differential equations and linear algebra. Because algebra is a prerequisite for these, I am confident in my ability to tutor algebra 1.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have taken mathematics up through multivariable calculus, linear algebra and partial differential equations. I must also use math readily in my field of study (materials chemistry).
Calculus,

Calculus

I have taken mathematics courses in the calculus series up through partial differential equations and use calculus on a regular basis in my field of study.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I study chemistry in college and have taken a number of lecture and lab courses. My personal interests in chemistry revolve primarily around polymer and materials chemistry.

Physics,

Physics

I utilize various principles from physics in my field of study on a daily basis, ranging from quantum mechanics and solid-state physics to thermodynamics and heat transfer.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have previously taken mathematics up through multi-variable calculus, partial differential equations and linear algebra. Because precalculus is a prerequisite to these, I am confident in my ability to tutor in this subject.
