About Aleksandr

There is something that I call the "Aha!" moment. It's the look on a student's face when they comprehend something they've been struggling to understand. It's not quite the same look with everybody; some students get widened eyes, while others grunt approvingly while smiling. Whatever the variation, the look is unmistakable, and it's the look I anticipate in every meeting. I tutor to bring that level of understanding to all students who wish to learn beyond their current curriculum, students who struggle in classroom environments, and any student that just needs that extra boost.

I've been tutoring since high school, and while the difficulty of the subject has substantially increased since then, the methods remain the same. I provide complex solutions in a clear glass in which anyone can see the reagents. I bring an intuitive understanding of mathematics and other subjects with every meeting, and I hope to see quick improvement with all my students. Learning an academic subject is like learning to play an instrument: it takes practice and a guide.

I have both an undergraduate and a Master's degree in mathematics, and I'm currently working on my Ph.D. in math. Additionally, I teach various undergraduate classes at Drexel University.

I've also placed in the top five of several Math Competitions and am capable of preparing students for those and other types of examinations.

I encourage all students to contact me! There is absolutely no harm in having a discussion about your needs and my capabilities, so please contact me and we can take it from there.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Discrete Math

I am currently doing my thesis in probabilistic combinatorics, but I also study the algebraic side as time allows. Additionally, at the time of writing in the summer of 2017, I am teaching discrete math at Drexel University.
