Bio

I am a doctoral student in philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania. I received a B.A. in Philosophy and Humanities from Villanova University (2014) and completed the post-baccalaureate program in Classical Studies at Penn (2015). While I specialize in ancient philosophy, I am a generalist by temperament. I always enjoy the opportunity to work with students in any area of philosophy or related fields.

Outside of the classroom, I help run critical thinking and philosophy programs at Philadelphia elementary schools and high schools. I have a passion for philosophy, and I am always excited to see folks think hard about the big questions.

I have also spent several years studying Ancient Greek and Latin. Prior to entering the doctoral program in philosophy at Penn, I completed a year of coursework in both languages in the post-baccalaureate program in Classical Studies. I began my studies in Greek at the University of Oxford with a course in New Testament Greek.

Fantastic professional

Michael makes learning a new language fun! He explained everything in detail and has great pride in his work. Very impressive. What struck me most was the depth of his knowledge mixed with a most realistic approach to learning.

Amazing tutor!

I have been working with Michael for a few weeks now. He is an excellent, engaging, and organized philosophy tutor; he prepares well in advance for sessions, asks in-depth questions to gauge understanding throughout the lesson, and encourages systematic, organized understanding of philosophical arguments. He is well-versed in a lot of topics in philosophy, has a lot of resources to offer from his vast experience teaching philosophy/as a PhD candidate. I look forward to continuing our lessons.

A knowledgeable, focused and patient tutor.

This was our first session. I had some connectivity issues, that Michael was very patient about. He was open to my many initial subject questions, and had a clear sense as to the path forward. I am very pleased.

Amazing and very knowledgable

I and Michael had an online class. He helped me to structure my paper and address the main questions from the paper guidelines. It was very effective class. I feel a lot more confident with his help. He is just amazing, i would definitely recommend him as an excellent tutor.
