Saint Joseph's University (Marketing)
I am currently a rising senior at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA. I am a Marketing major with minors in Spanish Language and International Business Studies.
For over half my life, I have studied Spanish and its various dialects spoken around the world. My first exposure to the language was in middle school when I immersed myself into practicing my reading, writing, and speaking skills. Soon after I began my studies, I realized that I had a niche for Spanish and what opportunities speaking a foreign language can give an individual. I not only learned how to communicate and translate in Spanish, but I also learned how to think in the language when speaking to native speakers. In order to expand my knowledge and exposure to the language, I continued my studies throughout high school and was inducted into the Spanish National Honor Society for high school students in the Spring of 2011. In May 2013, I took the Advanced Placement Spanish Language Exam which was a cultivation of all the knowledge I gained throughout my studies thus far.
Encouraged by my great secondary education, I pursued a minor in Spanish to further widen my range of not only my knowledge of the language itself, but also of the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries around the world. I also learned several new dialects which greatly helped in understanding the literature, art, and politics of those countries. In the Spring of 2016, I was inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, the national Spanish Honor Society for university students.
Due to my great experience in learning a foreign language, I want to spread that enthusiasm to others who are struggling with learning Spanish or to those who want to learn more about a language they already love.
I genuinely care about my pupils and want them to learn the language rather than simply regurgitate vocabulary. I take into consideration his or her learning style(s) as well as their ability to grasp information. Having ADHD myself, I have a hard time concentrating at times. But when I enjoy what I am learning and the way through which I learn it, I absorb information so much better. I am currently a rising senior at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
