Temple University (Earth, Space Science)
I am a recent graduate from Temple University, having just finished my BS in Earth and Space Science with Teaching. I'm currently preparing myself to attend graduate school for planetary science with the next year and a half, depending on which programs I'm admitted to and when. I have decided to pursue a career in my lifelong passion of all things space- particularly using my geology coursework through college as a means of exploring planets, moons, asteroids and more.
In addition to receiving a BS in my scientific discipline, I have a pending certification for secondary education in the state of Pennsylvania. I have worked with students all of ages through my fieldwork at Temple and through museum education internships and my time as a director of children's theatre.
As such, I have experience with learners of all ages. My favorite part of learning about scientific topics is being able to share and discuss them later-- I have frequently been told that my passion for the material is obvious throughout lessons and activities I've conducted. While I am unsure if I want to pursue a career as a full-time teacher just yet, I do know that being able to share and help others learn is a priority in my life.
I believe that the most effective science educators take pride in their role as both a scientist and a teacher. I have proven myself in both realms through my not only my rigorous educational coursework and job history, but through my research publication and independent work on a large-scale project detailing the craters of Mars. I have also helped teach an undergraduate physics/astronomy course.
I encourage any student or parents eager to progress in the physical sciences, geology or astronomy to contact me so that we can help one another learn and cultivate our interests. I look forward to hearing from you. I am a recent graduate from Temple University, having just finished my BS in Earth and Space Science with Teaching. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In terms of my qualifications, I have a BS in Earth and Space Science and a pending teaching certification in the state of Pennsylvania- obtained through several semesters of fieldwork through all grade levels. In addition, I have been a TA for an astronomy course at Temple and worked in both a museum and summer camp with elementary-age students.
