About Dan

I teach as a graduate assistant at Temple University. I am getting my Phd in philosophy. I have taught college level students for about three years now, at Temple, Immaculata, and Delaware County Community College, and am always looking for new ways to improve my teaching. I believe that learning is best when students are active--I try to delegate more and more authority to my students as the semester goes on. I am enthusiastic and energetic. I am a hard worker. I think I am good at bonding with students and getting them to the next level. I instill confidence in my students. In my free time, I like baseball, reading, exercise, and I sing karaoke. I have taught for a couple years now at the college level. Teaching is great when you help someone achieve a higher level of intellectual efficacy and are better prepared for the job market!

I took logic as a master's candidate and as an undergraduate at West Chester University. It is one of my strongest areas. I also got A's in my algebra and pre-algebra classes in middle school. I have family members who speak Spanish, have taken college courses in Spanish, and go to meetups where people speak Spanish.I have a good knowledge of the Bible from being part of Christian communities for a long time. I also have excellent verbal skills, which allowed me to get a perfect score on the verbal section of the GRE's and scored above 83% of students on the quantitative section even though I was not used to doing math. So, I'm interested in tutoring you in Spanish, the SAT verbal section, logic, the Bible, and some pre-algebra. I will get back to you and after a couple weeks I guarantee you will know you are in good hands.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I have a really good knowledge of the Bible from years of being part of Christian groups. I know about the Old Testament and the New Testament. I can talk about the story of Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis, Moses and the Pharaoh in Exodus, the sense of futility in the Book of Ecclesiastes, and the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I also know about Paulinian theology.

Logic

I taught logic at Immaculata University and I also have taken logic at the undergraduate and the graduate level. I can teach students about validity, invalidity, soundness, informal fallacies like the straw man and red herring. I can also do complex proofs involving conditionals, biconditionals, and disjunctive statements.

Philosophy

I am getting a PhD in philosophy and already have a master's. I teach philosophy at the college level. I consider myself an expert in the field.

Poker

I have played poker competitively. I have played different versions like Texas Hold'em and three card poker. I know how to go online to get the officials rules of the game. I know the ranking of the different hands.

Psychology

I have a minor in psychology.

Writing

I am a professional writer. I have published a novel. I maintain a blog. I have presented at academic conferences.
