I am certified to teach environmental and earth science. I have worked at the Academy of Natural Sciences, Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, and the Philadelphia Zoo. Although I have had college classes in Astronomy, my fascination began as a very young child.
I am also a graduate from Arcadia University in Elementary Education. I have worked as an ESL teacher on recognizing nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. I have also used the platform of great American literature to highlight the proper use of grammar and punctuation. Also used techniques from poetry, song, and prose to explore themes, character development, plot, and writing.
I can talk about a wide variety of subject matter and expand the basics with unique topics that children find interesting. I often include many multi-sensory and hands-on materials to accommodate children with different learning styles.
I know and love maps. I like to tie it in with geology, social studies, and world history. My classes also learned about climate changes, weather forecasting, and environmental issues.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
