I take pride in the arts, period! I love to paint, sew and all things crafty. A little about myself? Well I'm 29 years old and I've been sewing for since I was a Freshman in High School at a Performing Arts School. I soon went to college for interior design at Patricia Stevens College and although I loved it something was missing. My real love was fashion and clothes so I moved to NYC to purse my clothing line. Since then I've got into so many different aspects of sewing industry.
I've learned to do auto and boat upholstery and even taught children and adults to sew at South Broadway Art Project, a art school that gives back to the community in St. Louis. I'm currently a upholsterer for Sciacca Upholstering and Interior design Studio and run my own business (clothing line). I've always wanted to give back to the community in some way. And I know so many people who want to learn the trade but don't have the resources to. After working at the Art School I've felt it was my duty to teach others who are willingly to learn. any fashion designer can have ideas but don't know how to construct the garment or if it would even flow right as well as knowing the correct fabrics and textures. I can help assist with those issues. Sometimes a trip to the fabric store to recognize the different fabrics and notions will help you with understanding the construction of a garment. I've learned textiles, sewing techniques and tricks. I have a lot of informative information as well and some worksheets to help understand how to thread the machine properly.
I enjoy seeing my finished pieces once I'm finished and every time my goal is to have store quality looking clothes and or upholstery. I take pride in my work and would love to teach anyone just as eager to learn more. I don't have the formal college degree behind my name but I've worked hard in this industry and have a lot of knowledge, resources and some references, may I add I love children and also taught my son to thread and sew on the sewing machine. I can work with children as young as 8 willing to learn up to adults. We can do small easy projects from pillows to skirts to more advance pieces as dresses and pants. I can also assist with pattern-making. I like to bring fun and a good learning experience to you and help bring your ideas to life

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm currently an upholsterer for Gratz industry (Pilates equipment) I've been sewing for over 10 years with multiple jobs in the field one including teaching kids and adults how to use and sew a machine. I also know how to construct patterns to form the garment you desire to make. I went to school for interior design were I also learned about textiles that would be very helpful to know in constructing a garment as well. I have many informative books and worksheets to help understand the whole dynamic.
