About Joshua

Hello! My name is Joshua H. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in History and Art History. I have 5 years of experience writing grants. Let me help you with writing, literature, history, and art history! I currently teach 3rd grade at The Philadelphia School.

I graduated in 2013 from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in History and Art History. I graduated with Honors by writing a 120 page thesis which was selected as the top undergraduate thesis University Wide. Additionally, I was one of 12 students elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a Junior. I can help with general humanities including: Literature, Art History, US/World/European History. Received 5's on all history AP Examinations and scored within the 99th percentile on the SAT. Let me help you improve your study skills and become a better, more organized writer and thinker.

I believe pedagogy needs to match with the student. I tailor each lesson to the students needs. I begin every lesson with an outline and a list of expected outcomes. For humanities, I want to focus on themes and study skills. I will not waste time drilling facts, but help students learn ways for them to think and organize information in a systematic and productive way. I believe writing is a crucial skill and focus heavily on structuring ideas and shaping essays. I work with outline formation and editing.

I received a 780 on the SAT Math Section. I am a trained Kaplan Math tutor.

Received a combined 1500 on the SAT English section. Received 5's on both the AP English Literature and Language exam. My thesis at the University of Pennsylvania was selected as the top thesis university wide.

I graduated with honors in American History from the University of Pennsylvania. Maintained an in-major GPA of 3.9. Ivy League course work includes: American Revolution, History of Gender in American History, Intellectual History, 20th Century Culture, Ancient Greece, and the American South.
