About Taylor

I'm a law student at Penn, and I've been tutoring students for the past eight years, focusing on the ACT, SAT, Economics, Math, English and Writing. I have a Masters degree from Yale (Public Health) and a Bachelors degree from Brown (Political Science). At Yale, I was trained as a Teaching Fellow and instructed students in several courses.

What is most important to me is the success of my students, and I can stand by my results. On the ACT, I have had students improve from a 19 to 27, 23 to 29, and 30 to 34, and many of my SAT students have increased their scores by hundreds of points. Similarly, my students have reported great improvements in their school grades in subjects from physics to English grammar. I also work with students to develop an individualized curriculum which matches their needs. This customized curriculum allows students to improve efficiently and without frustration.

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I have been counseling about college applications for about four years, ranging from helping in determining what makes a good essay for a specific college to helping students make decisions about what schools are good to apply to based on their preferences. I also connect students who are interested in certain schools or disciplines with current students or alums who can provide useful information to them.

Political Science

I have an AB in Political Science from Brown University, focusing on the American political system and American elections. As a graduate student at Yale, I was a Teaching Fellow for several political science classes.

Public Speaking

I was a member of Toastmasters for four years and won a statewide speaking competition with Toastmasters. I was also a public speaking mentor for other members of the group.

Social Studies

My bachelors is in Political Science, and my masters is in Public Health with a focus on policy, economics, law, and psychology. I've tutored a lot of students on social science topics from history to politics and policy. I've also been a Teaching Fellow at Yale, and taught students for several classes in the political science and economics departments in microeconomics, bioethics and law, and political theory.

Great SAT Tutor

Taylor has been working with my 17 year old on the SAT (old format) and his scores have improved. He is very knowledgeable, has a calming nature and is great at explaining strategy. Taylor comes to our home twice per week for two hours. He's been such a help that we've asked him to also tutor our son in Physics. So glad we found him. I'd highly recommend Taylor as a tutor to anyone.
