As a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, I have helped lead whole classes to significant learning and achievement gains. Much of this progress has been made by dealing with each individual student, and this commitment to each student makes me an effective and professional tutor.
I specialize in language arts and in elementary grades, as I am certified to teach both subject areas. I am also well-qualified to tutor for test preparation. Additionally, I hold social studies certification and am qualified to tutor in a wide variety of social studies subjects.
As a tutor and educational leader, I have to find how every student learns best and present the learning objectives in a way that will both interest the student and allow the student to maximize his or her potential. This highly individualized instruction is rigorous yet not overwhelming, which takes students to heights they might not have known they were capable of reaching. To make sure my methods are effective, I track every student's progress; I not only analyze that data myself to see how I can adjust my instruction, but I also share that data with students and families so they can take ownership and pride in their own progress.
I hold myself to a very high standard, so I will often ask students and parents for feedback to see where I can improve, which will in turn help the student improve. I am very flexible, so I need only a two-hour cancellation notice. If a session is cancelled, I will make sure to reschedule to ensure that the student does not miss any valuable learning time.
I have a dedicated tutoring space in my local library to make sure each student is in an ideal environment, and I am also flexible to travel to a location that is best for the student.
Looking forward to hearing from you and helping you reach the top of your potential! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a teacher of middle school language arts, I integrate study skills instruction into my curriculum. My students entered the 2013-14 school year with a deficit in study skills, and after focus on study skills, they picked up many of these skills. These skills I have taught apply to every subject.
