About David

I love to help students succeed! I have twenty years of experience teaching primarily 5 - 14 year old students computer literacy and elementary mathematics at the K-8 level. I have helped turn avowed math haters into competent, confident math students. I also teach organizational strategies and study skills that are so important for academic success.

I am a nurturing and dedicated teacher. I quickly connect with my students and help them develop a positive attitude toward their work. My goal is to develop happy, strong and effective students.

I've worked with students teaching and tutoring and enjoy it immensely. I have tutored elementary school students. I like to let the student guide my teaching style. In my experience, each student needs individualized tutoring. Personally, I am a visual learner, but I know that not everyone learns that way, so I try to teach to each student's needs.

I recently completed a Master's degree from Seton Hall University in Educational Leadership, Management and Policy with high honors.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I have played, coached and umpired baseball over a 40 year period of time. Youth, high school and college baseball is what I have participated in during this time.

Elementary (K-6th)

I possess a Standard NJ Elementary teacher certificate and Supervisor's certificate.

I have twenty years teaching experience at the k-8 level. Recently (Aug. 2015),

I received my Master's degree in Education from Seton Hall University with honors.

Study Skills

I possess a Standard NJ Elementary teacher certificate and Supervisor's certificate.

When my two children were of elementary school age, each day they had a routine after school. They would have twenty minutes after school to change, get a snack, etc. Homework books were then checked, written homework was then completed.

After dinner, studying. On days of after school activities, my children came home and ate dinner then completed their homework. It was all about organization, routine and commitment to schoolwork.
