Moore College of Art and Design (Art History)
Temple University, Tyler School of Art (Master's)
I recently earned my art history degree from Moore College of Art and Design and graduated summa cum laude. My training there consisted of equal parts studio practice and liberal arts classes, so I approach art history from a different angle—understanding technique and skill. I have an expansive knowledge of the world through art; I am comfortable with art history from many different times and media including: Italian Renaissance, ancient and classical, Salvador Dali, post-19th century, photography, architecture, and art theory. I am also an avid writer. At Moore I honed my writing skills for all types of essays-- from two page weekly responses to my 34 page thesis. I understand what is appropriate for responses vs. papers, and I enjoy proofreading.
I can help you in all steps of the writing process: brainstorming, pre-writing, researching, organization, writing, proofreading, and citing. I know what it takes to make a good paper and can help take your writing to the next level while still keeping your unique voice present.
In addition, I can help you get to the top of your art history class. Whether it be studying for exams, critically analyzing a piece of art for a paper, or even just reviewing material from class in a new way, I will help you attain the grade you want.
My goal is to make writing and art history fun and understandable. These subjects are all about expressing your ideas and are meant to be personal and exciting! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned my BFA in Art History at Moore College of Art and Design. There, I took many art history courses on a wide range of topics including: Italian Renaissance, post-1900's, Salvador Dali, ancient and classical, architecture, photography, and art theory.
I took two courses on art theory, exploring the ideas of Barthes, Winckelmann, Benjamin, Kant, Foucault, and many more.
I have spent many hours proofreading and reviewing my own essays, as well as others' essays. I do multiple read throughs focusing on different elements of writing (grammar, tense, vocabulary, clarification, etc.) each time.
