About Tiffany

Hello!

I am currently employed as a professor in the Law and Justice Department at a college in New Jersey. I attended college and graduate school at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia and am still living in the Philadelphia area.

My main area of expertise is in criminal justice and sociology-related classes, but I am also available to tutor in writing, reading, and overall general study skills. I have a strong background in social science research and have already assisted several students with various writing assignments including undergraduate and graduate level theses, research papers, annotated bibliographies, and position papers. I completed my own thesis on the stereotypical portrayal of crime on popular television crime dramas. I am happy to proofread writing assignments on any topic.

I also have experience helping students to adopt and develop more effective study skills and habits. I teach a seminar to first year college students where I address issues such as study habits, academic workload, and time management. I also serve as a mentor and academic coach to students with accommodations.

Please feel free to contact me if you feel I could be of help to you! I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Criminal Justice

I earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Saint Joseph's University in 2009. I received the Criminal Justice Award at graduation for having the highest GPA in my major that year.

I also earned a master's degree in criminal justice from Saint Joseph's University in 2011 and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

I currently work as a professor of criminal justice at Rowan University in New Jersey. I taught as a 3/4 time instructor at Rowan for the last two years, and I am currently working as a full-time tenure-track instructor.

Study Skills

I was a straight A student all through school, including college and graduate school. I currently work as a college professor and serve as an academic advisor to many students. Part of my job includes assisting students who are struggling in their courses, which involves teaching and discussing more effective study strategies. I also took a course in high school on study skills.
I have established a portfolio of various study skills and techniques that suited to a variety of different learning styles.

Volleyball

I have over 9 years experience playing volleyball on school teams and also played in a private club league for four years. During high school, I played in the State Championship game and even competed against a girl who eventually went on to make the U.S. Women's Olympic Volleyball team. I also volunteered as a coach at many camps for young girls throughout high school and college. I played club co-ed volleyball in college and still play pick-up games every now and then. I also coached volleyball for the Special Olympics for four years.

Writing

I am a college professor teaching writing intensive courses. I completed many writing assignments in college and graduate school.
