Math was hard for me when I was in high school. When I came to Drexel I started from the beginning, learned the basics, and moved forward. In four months, math became my best subject and I decided to change my major. I've been studying math for over four years now while at Drexel. I have taught Linear Algebra as a teaching assistant in the College of Engineering and tutored for the Math Department in the Math Resource Center. I am excited to work with new students whether it be starting from scratch or ironing out advanced techniques. In school we talk about why algebra is algebra and how calculus works, we talk about the how and the why. I know how hard it can be and am willing to work through the details with anyone who wants to learn.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Not only have I studied the problems specific to discrete mathematics but I have taken several other courses related to the subject. I have a strong background in the fundamentals as they are also used heavily in all of Mathematics (Logic, proofs, set theory, etc). Specific courses include: Foundations of Mathematical Reasoning, Discrete Mathematics, Digital Logic Design, Computer Programming, Abstract and Linear Algebra (vector spaces, finite group theory, etc). Hence, I have experience with the problems, how to solve the problems, and why they are being taught to students at this level.
I have taken courses in Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra and Optimization Theory (Linear Algebra applied to optimization problems). Linear Algebra is actually my favorite subject, I have tutored extensively on this subject. I have explained these concepts to students in lecture format and one on one during my time as a teaching assistant in the College of Engineering and as a tutor in the Math Resource Center. I have taken courses in several programming languages. This means that my understanding of programming concepts has been separated from any particular language. That being said, python was my first language and the one that I use most commonly. Working in an engineering lab for over six months, I used python daily. I feel comfortable tutoring not only on python specific functions and syntax but also essential programming concepts that come up in every language.
