Hi, I'm Michael, a Master's student at the Drexel University College of Medicine. I have my Bachelor's from the University of South Carolina in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, with Honors from the Honors College. My course work for my undergrad degree included general biology and chemistry, organic chemistry, cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, genetics and genomics, and physical chemistry.

I have three years of experience tutoring biology, chemistry, and biochemistry at both the high school and collegiate level. I am located in the Roxborough/Manayunk area and am available for late afternoon/evenings and weekends.

I believe that simplicity is the key to understanding. If you can't explain something in a manner so clear that a fifth grader can understand it, then you don't understand the subject as well as you could. This is evident in my teaching, which frequently utilizes analogies and real world examples to help students understand difficult concepts.

Michael knew his subject

My son needed a good review after missing school and Michael did a great job. Thanks!! He was easy to understand and we will definitely call him again. Michael also came on short notice which was helpful.

Awesome Tutor!

Biochem is really coming together because of Mike. He's patient and helpful. He also challenges me by not blatantly giving me the answers.

Knowledgeable and creative tutor

Michael has helped my son get through chemistry this year. He helps with homework, and studying for tests. Most importantly, Michael has taught him test taking strategies to reduce the energy/anxiety surrounding every test problem. When one strategy is not working, Michael comes up with another. I seem to recall a tutoring session with refrigerator items laid out on the table to make the lesson more concrete.

Knowledgeable Tutor

Michael taught me basic protein structures, Ramachandran plots, and went over some titration problems. Because it was the first session after only the first class, we both did not know exactly where to focus. I think I will be more prepared next time with specific material for him to go over.

He knows what he is talking about

He explains things until I get it. I think that all you ever want out of a tutoring session. I plan to use him until my class is over. I feel more comfortable taking the course knowing I have this type of support. I'm more confident and ready to take on this challenge!
