About Michael

My passion for helping others succeed started 12 years ago when I decided to join the Marine Corps. I began my career as a musician where I gave private instrumental lessons and taught music theory classes. Four years later I was afforded the opportunity to go to the Defense Language Institute. Upon graduation, I worked as an Intelligence Analyst and Korean Linguist. Having spent most of my military career overseas, I spent a large part of my free time participating in language exchanges and ESL/ESOL tutoring with locals. During my last year in the Marines, I was designated as an instructor where I taught Korean and analytical techniques as well as conducted curriculum development.

I am currently a senior at Drexel University seeking a dual degree in math and finance with a GPA of 3.9+. I have over 400 hours of tutoring experience at the undergraduate/graduate level. Although I am capable of tutoring a range of subjects, I particularly enjoy teaching statistics and other analytical subjects. I look forward to hearing from you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Clarinet

I have studied and been performing the clarinet for 17 years. I had attended the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and had studied with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Baltimore Symphony. I have been teaching clarinet on and off for eight years.

General Music

I have a wide variety of education and experience in music. I am classically trained on clarinet, piano, and saxophone. I have studied the history and evolution of music and its composers, theory, and also different genres of music.

Korean

I have an Associates Degree in Korean Studies from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. I have three years of active translation/linguistic experience in Korean. I lived in Korea for one year translating for government officials.
