About Janessa

I am currently working as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Provider for clients of all ages. I work one-on-one in a variety of home and community settings. I earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English Writing at DePauw University. I am also a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, educated through the Nutritional Therapy Association. I am also a Master of Science candidate in Counseling and Clinical Health Psychology; after which I plan to further my education on to a doctoral degree.

As one can plainly see, education has always been the priority in my life and something I refuse to compromise on. I have an insatiable desire to continue educating myself, and others through my experience and knowledge. I am very passionate about working in social and helping fields, as I lend myself well to the needs of those around me.

Regarding my previous experience tutoring: I tutored over 350 hours each year of high school (partially as a requirement for the Honors Endorsement Program I was selected for, but also simply to volunteer my time by doing something I am passionate about). I was also an active member on the Education Committee (as well as on a variety of other committees) at DePauw University's Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter. I have led research, organized philanthropy, and workshopped the work of many English and Psychology peers.

I feel fully prepared to dedicate myself to expanding the minds of those with uncovered potential. We, as people, want to learn. We want to grow and succeed; to feel confident and safe while facing the challenges of life. I believe I can help anyone accomplish exactly this.

During most of my tutoring years, I focused primarily on mathematics (of all levels), English, psychology, and study skills. I always excelled at math and have found that once you learn it, you truly can sustain your mathematics knowledge. I took advanced math courses all through middle school, high school, and college.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing--part of the requirements of which was successfully completing a wide variety of English Literature courses. While in high school I tutored in English, both literature and writing. I LOVE TO READ. I consider myself a well-read individual and am versed in analyzing and annotating texts from varying genres, composing original writing, and peer editing and workshopping.

I am wrapping up my education as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, which will allow me to practice nutrition as a sole provider. I have mastered the basics of nutrition, the client consultation, anatomy and physiology, digestion, blood sugar balance, fatty acid balance, mineral balance, hydration, the endocrine system, immune and allergy, the cardiovascular system, nutritional detoxification, applied nutritional therapy, as well as an incredibly useful functional evaluation of the body. I feel prepared to tutor in this area.

I so look forward to hearing from potential tutoring clients! Please contact me for more information and to schedule lessons. :)
