In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience writing 504 plans (under the American Disabilities Act) and also working with students who have an IEP under the category, OHI (Other Health Impairment). I am familiar with Dr. Amen's 6 different types of ADD/ADHD and study the different brain forms for each type. I am familiar with the medications, the accommodations, and how students learn!
I have a bachelors of science in special education. My experience is with students in all areas of disabilities; however, every summer I work at a summer camp for an entire weekend with students with aspergers and autism.
