I am a lover of English, reading, and writing and communicating. I also enjoy working with kids. In 2010, I went back to school in Massachusetts to attend a post-graduate course for getting my teaching certificate. At the time, I was also a volunteer English language tutor for a married couple from Egypt. I became certified as an English language arts teacher for grades 5-8 in Massachusetts. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
