I am currently an MD/MBA student in Philadelphia. I graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and Psychology and a minor in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
I have tutored high school students for the SAT (all 3 sections) and SAT Subject Tests (Math Level 2 and Biology) with exceptional success for over 3 years at a test-prep company. In addition, I have helped several students prepare for the MCAT.
Teaching has been an extremely rewarding activity for me. My strong interpersonal and organizational skills aid me in designing lesson plans for students and detecting students' deficiencies. I emphasize an understanding of the fundamental concepts followed by rigorous practice and application.
I am motivated to learn and teach in a variety of fields. As a high school student, I was designated as the State AP Scholar for Pennsylvania in 2009, having scored a 5 on 19 AP exams. I also scored in the 99th percentile on all 3 sections of the SAT and on the MCAT, as well as an 800 on the SAT subject tests in Math Level 2, Chemistry, and U.S. History.
I hold the following distinctions/awards: Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Dean's List with High Honors, National AP Scholar, State AP Scholar for Pennsylvania, and National Merit Scholar.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have nearly 1 year of experience in teaching the MCAT and more than 3 years' experience in teaching science and verbal reasoning. I am a medical student and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University.
The MCAT covers a wide variety of content and skills, so it is necessary to take an organized, systematic approach when preparing for it. Frequent review and practice (and having fun!) are absolutely necessary.
