Ms. Darci has been working with my 14 year old son for a couple of months. We are more than pleased with her! Ms. Darci is VERY patient and finds very innovative ways to help my son learn. She's very pleasant and makes sure she gets to know your child and their interests. Her patience and perseverance has helped my son in the areas that he has struggled the most in recent years. Cursive hand writing is no longer taught in schools, but since working with Ms. Darci my son can now sign his name in cursive! Math is also another area that my son struggles with. While my son still doesn't like math, he's more comfortable completing his homework and classwork.
If you are looking for an experienced, very patient, pleasant and caring tutor, Ms. Darci should be your choice!!
Hello Syiedah, It is such a pleasure to work with your son. I am glad to know that some of his achievements parallel your expectations.
Darcie has been tutoring our 10 year old daughter in math (basic facts) since June. Darcie uses a good combination of written and online exercises to reinforce the learning. She identifies creative ways to cover material that can otherwise become mundane, but is necessary. Darcie is patient with her yet maintains appropriate expectations.
She created an acronym for our daughters name, each letter representing an expectation for each lesson. Maintaining a positive attitude is one of the areas that Darcie has addressed during her lessons – helping our daughter recognize that she has the ability to solve problems despite her own beliefs. She ties in real-life examples to help make these points. Each week, we receive a detailed summary of each lesson, and description of any problem or areas of strength. A very thorough tutor.
Hello Sheila, Thank you for providing me with such positive feedback. I am happy to know that your expectations are being met.
Darci is a wonderful mix of a loving caring mother and a strong and diligent teacher. She takes her time to really understand where the child is struggling and how to help them fully understand the concepts they are working with. She holds their attention, keeping them focused until the end. Thank you Darci!
Hello Galeet! Thank you for those kind words and feedback. It is such a pleasure to work with the girls. I am happy to see their growth and positive attitude about school.
Darci S. is a wonderful tutor, the first initial phone contact she listened to me on what my concerns where and had already figured out ways to help my child improve. When she came for the first lesson, she jumped right in and started with the basics she even made up a little song to help him remember the process. She is wonderful and my child loves for his tutoring sessions to come, he has even in school started to show kids the way Darci has showed him to do division and he is doing great. She is a wonderful tutor and takes time to listen to the parent and especially the child on what is needed to learn.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Pennsylvania Elementary Education certificate and more than 25 years of experience. This entails both teaching/tutoring and developing unit curricula. My extensive background will enable me to implement lessons, provide encouragement and make a positive connection with your child to unleash his or her greatest potential.
Grammar skills might mean the difference in earning a position or title. Today's colleges and job industries request that applicants submit extensive written essays and participate in personal interviews. Excellent verbal and written grammar skills are essential. If you allow me, I can help and you will not be disappointed.
Mastering phonics skills is an achievable goal. I utilize multiple techniques to help develop phonemic awareness and then provide opportunities for practice which lead to authentic reading and writing. I have succeeded in working with both children and adults.
My interest in public speaking began as a child. Later, I was a member of the high school debate team and also took college drama courses. I served as my school's liaison teacher and coached students for oratorical competitions for more than ten years. I am also prepared to work with adults. Some past students did obtain semi-finalists, finalists and first place winner status.
I have instructed reading as a teacher and tutor. I am highly trained and skilled to work with special needs and under-achieving learners. Emphasis is placed upon phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. I also include responding to literature as a means of analyzing. Strong study skills equip individuals to meet life's challenges. There is an abundance of reading, writing, and technological navigation required to function in today's society. I help guide the students to identify and incorporate their unique learning style. Then, strategies are given for organizing, studying habits, researching, listening skills, note-taking and goal setting.
Vocabulary is essential to develop reading comprehension skills. One communicates with a parent, teacher, physician, banker, police officer, retailer, etc. There are forms to complete. Vocabulary usage should range from common to advanced words. The key is to learn when, where, how, and with whom to use specific vocabulary. I can help assist you in meeting your need to improve your skills.
I have loved to write since childhood. The experience of becoming a first-place winner in 5th grade energized me to further develop my skills.
