About Vincenzo

Hey Everybody!

I am an experienced tutor teaching subjects like physics, calculus, algebra and even guitar. I am an aerospace engineer and I currently work for a helicopter company in Philadelphia and I am part of the certification team for the first ever civil tilt-rotor the AW609 (the civil version of the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey)! My availability is more limited than before, however I will take on a few students who would like to use my expertise.

I have knowledge in many areas of academics and engineering and I am still very interested in teaching and tutoring. This mainly stems from my first teaching experience back when I was in college. I took part in this program where students from my university taught a group of public school children how to make a model rocket and how it worked. I remember I got the chance to instruct a small group of children on the names of all the parts of the rocket and a basic explanation of how they functioned. It was amazing to see how excited these kids were to learn about science and now, reflecting on this experience, I see the impact I can have on people directly.

My passion for math and science has given me more than expertise in those subjects, but also a strong analytical mind that is essential to success and growth in life. I am finding more and more as I get older that critical thinking is rarely taught and greatly needed. I feel that getting experience teaching students one on one is the best way for me to have an immediate impact. This will especially help to personalize the teaching experience and is an effective way to create a trusting relationship. I am especially personable and I know I have the ability to inspire students to have success beyond their expectations especially with the creative method I use for teaching.

I believe that the best approach for teaching is to help students conceptualize some seemingly abstract topics in these subjects. Most of the time people get hung up on the language or complex symbols used in math and science when really the key to understanding is to be able to look beyond those things and visualize something physical. I promote using some imagination when looking at these topics, especially in physics. When someone can understand how a concept is working then they can apply it to solve a whole range of problems and most memorization will be unnecessary. This approach will help aid students to achieve a higher understanding of these subjects and it will promote critical thinking. Let me show you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I studied 4 levels of advanced calculus in college and I have hundreds of hours tutoring college level calculus.

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for over 11 years and I am currently taking music theory lessons and have been taking them for 2 years. I have also been performing live (solo and with a band) in Philadelphia for the past 4 years (some venues include Silk City, The Khyber Pass, Tritone, The Blockely Pourhouse, Triumph Brewery, J D McGillicuddy's, The Spy Club in Harrisburg, Bryn Mawr College, the Rotunda). I recently released an short EP album recorded in a professional studio in Boston and I have also done numerous home recordings.

Mechanical Engineering

I have 7+ years of aerospace industry experience with a heavy focus on mechanical engineering. I am currently actively in an engineering job.

Physics

The majority of my experience as a tutor is in Physics and I take pride in helping people gain confidence.

Great experience .

I had tried a couple different companies going into this summer, and through the different tutors I had met with it was immediately clear that Vince was the best. He was patient, thorough, brushed up on topics before meeting, and was extremely flexible. I feel that we never wasted time during any of our sessions, something I definitely cannot say about other tutors, and he rarely did not understan
