I am a full-time mom with two very academically successful kids. I have a BA in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Temple University. After a pre-parenting career in analysis and advocacy, in recent years, I have launched a secondary career as a freelance editor/writer. In a number of instances, what began as an editorial relationship, has evolved into a very satisfying online tutorial relationship. I have helped high school, college, and graduate students.
I take the approach of examining and reviewing with clients all their course materials. This does require uploading to the web if we are working via the internet. We discuss the content, and I try to stimulate inferential thinking about any assigned texts, images, or other documents. I brainstorm approaches or topics for writing assignments. I proof and edit their writing, explain my suggestions, and often write illustrative samples. I attempt to be the sort of mentor that all students deserve, reminding them of upcoming assignments, advising them regarding exam study strategies or assembling an admissions application portfolio, helping them formulate questions for the teacher, decoding the instructor's aims for the course, and generally, in the words of a veteran teacher, "playing school."
I have seen the power of tutoring for myself, and I want to offer the benefits of my own very elite education to others. Although I have edited almost every genre of writing, my strongest areas include the life and social sciences, literature, business, and art, among others. My secondary languages are French, Spanish, German, Latin, and self-taught Italian. Let's discuss how I can help you achieve your best.
