I am a recent Master's graduate looking to help out with people's writing, reading, comprehension and speaking skills. I started studying Spanish in high school and continued in college where I studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain. I later spent 14 months after college in South America to practice my speaking skills. Experiencing a diversity of Spanish-speaking regions has given me a unique understanding of country-specific grammar, vocabulary, intonation and accent changes. Most importantly, my studies and travels have taught me the immense value of language study and the beauty of cultural exchange.
My teaching experience includes tutoring, teaching elementary math, literacy and nutrition, and high school Spanish (level II, III and AP).
I hope to share my passion for the Spanish language with others by helping them to achieve basic proficiency by focusing on grammar, pronunciation and conversational practice. Katharine has helped my son through a rough patch in Spanish II. His grade went up and he feels confident. I will not hesitate to call on Katharine again should the need arise, and I highly recommend her.
I took Spanish lessons with Katharine before traveling overseas. She is motivated and pleasant to work with. Highly recommended! Ella es buena!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am looking to tutor beginning to advanced levels of Spanish to individuals of any age. Classes can be tailored to the student's specific needs or goals (i.e., focus on basic grammar, reading comprehension, conversational skills). My studies of Spanish began in high school and continued in college and were solidified while living in South America. I have a lot of experience working with children both in and out of the classroom. I have also taught high school Spanish and tutored adults.
