Hi everyone, my name is Brian. If you are considering Math subject tutoring or Math SAT tutoring, look no further! I am a graduate of Boston College, and Math has always been my strongest subject. I want to sit down and work with students to look at what is giving them problems either with Math subjects in school or with the SAT. No more worrying about those Math classes and tests in school, and no anxiety for the SAT!
If you need to address problems with Pre-algebra, Algebra, or any other level of Algebra you will be happy to hear that Algebra has always been my strongest subject. It is where I always earned my highest grades, and where I learned all of the concepts quickly and easily. When I work with students I like to use my Math skills to first make sure students understand all the concepts that come at them in school. Then I spend time teaching strategies for tackling specific types of questions on tests in school or on the SAT.
When you need to take the SAT test I can help you earn a great score on the Math portion. When I took the SAT test, for the Math portion I earned a score of 800 (out of 800 possible points). Yes, a perfect score! I know how important it is to earn a high standardized test score to help get accepted into college--I want to make it easier for you to earn that higher score!
In an earlier tutoring program I was part of, I worked with high school students living in a group home in the Philadelphia area. I provided 1-on-1 tutoring lessons for them, either for Math school subjects in general or to prepare for tests. In the strong majority of my recent lessons I have tutored students to be better prepared for Math classes in school and to get ready for quizzes, tests, and exams. Throughout my lessons with these current students, they seem to be understanding school material more clearly, and their grades have been improving.
For adults and kids, I can offer tutoring and assistance in other subjects - GRE prep, writing help (papers, essays), using Microsoft Office, public speaking, and other subjects.
Please send me a message so we can talk about scheduling tutoring lessons. I look forward to hearing from you. Hi everyone, my name is Brian. Brian was a breath of fresh air with his approach and enthusiasm for math. He was able to make our daughter feel at ease and made her feel good about what she knew and helped guide her in areas where she needed assistance.
My son seemed to appreciate the advice given to him by Brian. We appreciated how patient he was while tutoring Luis. Seems like this was a good match. Looking forward to working with Brian.
Brian helped my daughter gain more confidence. She is grasping the concepts much sooner and has a more thorough understanding of the content. Additionally he works at the pace needed for each topic to be thoroughly comprehended.
My daughter's first session with Brian was successful. Brian is helping my daughter prepare for her SAT's in December. My daughter is continuing her weekly sessions with Brian.
Brian is an excellent tutor who came prepared to meet my daughter's needs. He is excellent at teaching what he knows to his students. I am very picky and highly selective, and he passed with flying colors! Terrific!
Brian is the perfect tutor, and he is the reason our daughter is excelling in Algebra. He is also great to communicate with, flexible with schedules (including staying later than the allotted time if needed to help our daughter grasp concepts), and has the perfect temperament to deal with teenagers. My husband and I would give Brian ten stars on a scale of one to five.
My son has had two lessons with Brian and, so far, we are very happy to have him as a math teacher. Brian is an excellent teacher and a very calm person. My son learned a lot from him and gained so much confidence. I am happy to see him doing great in school.
I reached out to Brian looking for help with the quantitative and critical reasoning part of the GMAT. I have been out of school for a few years and needed a refresh on math topics tested on the GMAT.
Brian and I met up Saturday September 20 at the public library. We chatted a bit about where I struggled most and then we got to work. Brian did a great job walking me through, step by step, how to solve problems involving things like fractions, decimals, and ratios.
I will try some questions on topics we covered and go to Brian with questions. I think if we continue down this path I will have the confidence and knowledge to succeed.
My daughter was having a hard time with trig. So I looked online and after looking through a lot of online tutors I came across WyzAnt and found Brian. Brian has been working with my daughter and he has helped her a lot. I'm so glad I found Brian, He is easy to reach and is always there for her. So if you are looking for a tutor Brian is the ONE YOU WANT. Thank you Brian.
Brian came to our home with short notice and tutored my daughter for one hour for her Math SAT's. When she retook the test a few days later -Woot Woot! Her Math score went up from 590 to 710 --120 points!!!! Ya can't beat that. This was more about helping her review and calming her stress and increasing her confidence as she of course had a working knowledge and grasp of this subject in order to achieve these scores. She had had a complication taking her first SAT's that set her off her mark, but we are certain that Brian's help and expert knowledge of Math SAT's was essential to this increase. Thank you Brian. We are happy to recommend you to others. I didn't realize I had to rate you within a certain time frame... So I am doing it here ... 5 stars!
I could not have asked for a better tutor. Although it is early in the process I can see that Brian is primarily focused on helping my son succeed. He correctly assessed my son's needs and immediately focused on his problem areas. Also- he is always easy to communicate with and does give valuable feedback. Choosing a tutor is always a leap of faith and I feel we have chosen the best.
September 2013! I cannot believe our daughter has started her freshman year in college and our son a sophomore in high school. Brian, you have been a true life saver at times. When the kids wanted to "hate" a subject or a theory you always had a brilliant way of having them understand why it was necessary or important. Three years later and going strong. You started off as our daughter math tutor and took on the task of assisting our son with tutoring as well (A challenge) as they are as different as night and day. Brian has not only tutored in math he has also, helped with English and any other subject area the children needed additional explanation or another set of eyes to review the work completed.
Our daughter was awarded partial scholarship and still has an open line of communication with Brian when needed. Via Internet communications she is able to still work with Brian on a as needed basis. We are happy to announce her first college paper she received a 94! And has maintained an A average in her mathematics class.
Our son is moving right along and we anticipate brilliant things to come as well as stellar grades.
Thank you so much Brian for being patient, understand and able to work with each child on their own comfort level.
Brian was great! I've been away from it for awhile and it's not my best subject. He was patient and understanding. He was clear and not intimidating which was great. I was comfortable asking him questions about the subject. I'm glad I will be tutoring with him because I feel I can pass math.
Brian M. is great! My 9th grade son looks forward to his lessons with Brian and his style of teaching is straight forward and engaging for the student. My son had just about given up on ever being good at math and is now very inspired and feeling much better about himself.
This was my third lesson with Brian, and I'm happy to say that the concepts from many years ago in high-school math are coming back to me as I prepare for the GRE. I feel comfortable doing each week's work, and I look forward to the challenge of taking a practice GRE exam. Brian is prompt, willing to stay an extra few minutes (or more) and doesn't rest until he's confident that I'm comfortable with the concepts we reviewed that day.
Brian helped my son tremendously. When I contacted Brian, I was desperate to find someone who could assist my son in passing Algebra. Not only did my son pass the course, he ended up getting an A! Thank you Brian for a job well done. Feel free to use me as a reference if needed!
My daughter's grade in Algebra has gone from a C to an A because Brian works with her at a pace that helps her learn through her mistakes. His kind encouragement gives her the confidence she needs to tackle the problems and ace the exams. Thanks so much!
Brian came out in the snow to tutor my daughter in Algebra 2. He has a great grasp of the subject. Brian is very patient and helpful in identifying challenges and strengths around the the Algebra work. I am going to schedule additional sessions with him to continue to keep up on this tough subject. Thank you, Brian, Great Job!!
The second tutoring lesson was very helpful as well. Brian originally scheduled with us for an hour. Because of the need and the complexity of the Algebra he stayed for over two hours. He under promised and over delivered. Great job! Brian also accommodated to come later today because my daughter has an Algebra test this Thursday. I am strongly suggesting that if you need Algebra tutoring you utilize Brian's services.
When Brian began tutoring my daughter it was the end of the first marking period and she received a C in the class. We are very near to the end of the second marking period and she has received a 90 or higher on every quiz and or test. Great job to Brian the tutor and to my daughter for all the hard work!!! Brian goes the extra mile to accommodate the class test schedule and the students needs.
Alix was very pleased. She felt she really grasped on with what you were reviewing and feeling more confident. Looking forward to next time.
Very great tutor, makes sure you understand all the material well before moving on. Genuine concern for the success of the student. Also has good communication, is dedicated, thorough, and recommended.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
If you are looking to learn your way around using a computer, let me help you! I have almost 20 years experience using computers, and want to help show you how to be more comfortable around them. My experience includes home use (typing documents, using the Internet, viewing and working with photos, etc.), use in school (creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, Internet research, etc.), and use in the workforce (sending individual and group emails, creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations).
But before we get into details, let me help you start to use the basics of the computer-the keyboard and mouse, basic typing, then we can use your computer to look at family photos, perform research on the Internet, and anything else that you need.
Let's conquer that fear of speaking in public! Remember, it begins with you-what you know, what you want to tell/teach someone, etc. I will make sure you can deliver all of what you already have, to any audience. This can be to groups in high school, college, or in a work setting.
My public speaking experience began almost 18 years ago, in competitive debate. It involved researching and becoming an advocate for a topic, and delivering a speech detailing my point of view. Later in competitive speaking, I learned to memorize written material (plays, stories) and deliver the material to audiences of all sizes - anywhere from 10-15 people to a large room of 300 people. In a professional setting, I was often required to prepare training materials and deliver short presentations to as little as 1-3 people and as many as 10 people.
Let me help you feel confident in public speaking! I can teach you voice techniques, body techniques, and delivery techniques, to make your speaking as clear as possible! I can make sure you will be able to clearly present and deliver what you need, and that you are not nervous or have any anxiety while doing it!
